What Causes Unbalance in Previously Balanced Rotors?
Answer: A change in the mass axis.
Material is sometimes inadvertently removed, for example, an agricultural flail cutter can hit a rock and snap a blade, a pump impeller can corrode unevenly, a balance clip on a fan can work its way off over time.
Sometimes material is inadvertently added, for example, a build-up of dirt on a car wheel, a fan blade replaced with one of a different weight, a drilled balance hole can fill with grease and dirt.
