Universal Balancing Acquires Control Systems Specialist, BTD

Sister Company's Operations Amalgamated into Unibal's Bristol Headquarters.

Leading component balancing systems supplier, Universal Balancing Ltd has taken over Birmingham-based control system specialist, BTD Ltd and consolidated the former sister company's operations into its Kingswood headquarters at Bristol.

Through the merger, responsibility for the development and maintenance of BTD software - employed throughout the full range of Unibal horizontal and vertical axis balancing equipment - will be transferred to Bristol.  In addition, all hardware design and development will now be centralised at Universal's Kingswood site.

"The amalgamation of our activities with BTD is a logical next step in the development of our company," says Universal Balancing's Managing Director, Steve Fowler.  "The consolidation of our operations under one roof enables us to significantly increase our capacity, particularly for purpose-designed software and balancing systems.  Furthermore, shortened lines of communication will allow us to streamline all aspects of our service, as well as to provide customers with a single point of contact for all their balancing equipment requirements."

Universal and BTD have a long history of collaboration.  Both companies share a wealth of experience, underpinned by extensive R&D capabilities and more than 50 years machine building experience.

The merger reflects sustained business growth across Universal's complete product range.

"Our latest generation control system - developed exclusively by BTD - has been an important factor in this; helping us to significantly increase sales to the automotive sector, both in the UK and through our US subsidiary, Reco Unibal Inc," continues Mr Fowler.  "The acquisition of BTD strengthens our ability to build on this foundation and sustain our track record of success in the future."
