Leaders in balancing technology
The PS-M is a range of aftermarket, or low production driveshaft balancing machines, available in two, three and four plane models. Unlike most aftermarket driveshaft balancing machines the Universal Balancing machine can balance and repeat to the tightest modern balance tolerances. It is easy to use, easy to setup, easy to changeover and has a very fast cycle time.
These driveshaft balancing machines are extremely accurate and supplied with the world leading UNI-44 Windows™ based computer measuring system. Unbalance is measured in all planes simultaneously and in real time. The amount and angle is numerically displayed alongside polar displays which displays the exact angle of unbalance whilst the part is rotated removing any guesswork from the correction process. All calibration and job specific data is stored for quick recall in future (see UNI-44 for more details).
The machine construction consists of a rigid steel fabricated base of various lengths and is fitted with high precision linear rail. Linear rail not only keeps all bearers perfectly aligned, it makes moving them very quick and easy. The left hand bearer carries a spindle and belt driven motor assembly, this produces the drive of the machine. The right hand bearer houses the second spindle. Centre bearers have a plain steel plate on the top to allow various configurations of centre bearings and or housing to be directly mounted. All bearers have linear bearing and a lock to allow them to glide along the linear rail before simply locking in position. Roller carriages can be mounted to the central bearers so that the balancing machine can be utilised for other industrial parts such as rotors, pumps, fans and crankshafts etc.
Driveshafts are bolted to the machine spindles via simple adapter plates. The driveshat balancing machine range has two encoders fitted to the spindles as standard to allow independent electronic tooling compensation. If very high repeatability is required the driveshaft balancing machines can be supplied with precision air chucks that can be fitted with different jaws to hold a variety of flanges: CV’s, open UJ’s and rubber couplings. The 2 jaw precision air chucks can centralise the shaft to within a few microns prior to being bolted securely. Air chucks provide excellent repeatability even for the latest lightweight high-tech passenger car or motorsport propshafts/driveshafts.
Depending on the size and weight of the rotor, balancing can be carried out at 282-800 rpm or 1250-3500 rpm. When balancing at high speed safety is very important, so the machine is supplied with one, two or three safety shackles that prevent shafts from being thrown from the machine. In addition the driveshaft balancing machines has fully interlocked Eco Panel mesh guarding with sliding door.
As an option a welder can be installed on the driveshaft balancing machine range to allow the attachment of either spot weld weights or projection weld weights. The welder is medium frequency which produces excellent quality welds. The weld gun is mounted on a gantry at the rear of the machine. The guns slide along the entire length of the bed so weights can be applied at the various linear positions.
